ABOUT SENSATIONAL CREATIONS
Sensational Creations is my passion. A few years ago, our son was diagnosed with Dyspraxia and Sensory Processing difficulties. We took him to see an amazing Occupational Therapist (OT) for Ayres Sensory Integration therapy, and our learning journey began in earnest. After a while, he was discharged from OT, at which stage he was ready for me to work on his fine motor skills, along with his reading and writing. I used to teach arts and crafts at an art shop in Redruth as a second job and I combined that expertise with my new-found and constantly evolving knowledge of neurodevelopmental techniques.
The results have been staggering and our son is now making excellent progress at school. I have also been working with other children, all over the UK and in the USA via the internet, as well as children locally, with similar results.
There are lots of children out there with massive potential, who just need a bit of extra help, for whatever reason…and so Sensational Creations was born when I was made redundant from my Civil Service job in May 2018, after more than 27 years.
It took 9 months to find premises as I wanted to be as inclusive as possible, despite being a small business. I have a disability myself – I am hard of hearing – and I was determined that, as far as possible, nobody should be excluded from our services. We have wheelchair access and a disabled toilet for those with impaired mobility. I am also working with a local advocate to get a Changing Places facility installed in Hayle. We are totally committed to doing our very best to make Sensational Creations as accessible as possible.
