We are very passionate about helping people to reach their full potential, whatever their age, whatever challenges they face and however small a part we can play in that.
We are not Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists or professional counsellors. We are, however, parents of a child who has been diagnosed as being highly intelligent, with learning differences – we therefore have a lot of empathy with parents on a similar path as us. Nikki has worked her magic with children both in the UK and abroad, with great results.
WHO CAN WE HELP?
We can help people who have been diagnosed with neurological diversities, such as Dyspraxia, Autism, Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis etc.
WHEN DO WE DO IT?
We can help by Building Life Skills through Art.
Fine motor skills are essential in order to carry out daily living tasks such as handwriting, tying shoelaces, doing up buttons, brushing our teeth…fine motor difficulties can cause a lot of frustration with these daily living tasks by making things more difficult to achieve. It can therefore also impact on mental wellbeing by affecting confidence and self esteem.
Our art projects are specifically devised to help the individual develop and/or retain their fine motor skills, which will also help with their mental wellbeing.
As well as handwriting, we have also seen some wonderful results with reading abilities after participation in some of our targeted art projects.
WHY WE DO IT?
It’s quite simple, really.
We want to help. Having achieved excellent results with the children she has previously worked with (although not on a professional basis), Nikki wants to open up that help to others.
We build life skills through art with the following conditions
